SHARING BSNL DATA ONE BROAD BAND CONNECTION

SHARING BSNL DATA ONE BROAD BAND CONNECTION, BSNL CONNECTION SHARING, DATA ONE CONNECTION SHARE BETWEEN 2, 3 PCS.

Hi guys,if you want share your bsnl data one broad band connection at home having 2 or 3 pcs.. here is a simple way which I found on my own after doing several experiments with it.Bsnl guys allow only one pc per connection. what if you brought a new pc at your home and what to share all the files and internet connection too ??

I hope you know how to connect 2 or 3 pcs using a cross over cable for a LAN. Now after connecting the pcs in LAN for file sharing ..you want to share internet connection.

I will explain you in very simple steps which takes atmost 10 mins to share your connection. You dont even need to configure your modem with this method.I will explain how I configured my pcs for sharing the connection..The system to which the modem has been connected.. we call it as server. The system to which sharing is required we call it as client(s).

Step 1: Making your systems ready for sharing.

a)BSNL modems comes with 2 types of ports. The Lan port and USB port. For sharing you must connect your modem to system using USB port. Because The LAN port will be used for connecting the other system.

b) Make sure your server system connected properly to the internet using USB port.

3) Connect your server and client using cross over LAN cable.

Step 2: Assigning the IP address for your systems.

a) After connecting the system using USB port and Lan. Open your Network connection screen. You will see 3 connections there.

1st is Lan connection , 2nd ADSL connection to modem and 3rd is your Bsnl (PPOE) connection which you use to connect to internet.

As shown in figure above, you will get 3 connection types. Just right click on Lan connection and click properties.Select Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and click properties.

After clicking the properties button of Internet Protocol you will get the below screen.

Here is the main logic lies..Now must know some basics for assigning IP's

Your bsnl modem reserves IP:192.168.1.1 which is default ip for your modem if you connect using LAN.

IP:192.168.1.2 is reserved if you connect using USB port.As you know if want configure you modem you need to enter the above IP's in the browser depending on the type of connection. Now for your server system first need to assign the IP. I have assigned 192.168.1.5 for my server system(for safe side).for sub net mask 255.255.255.0 is being assigned. For default gate way you just simply assign 192.168.0.1. and click ok

After that go to command prompt and enter "ipconfig /all" to check whether the ip for lan has been assigned successfully or not.
Now Assigning IP of server part is over. Just go to client system and assign IP for client system in the same way as we did above.

NOTE: you will see only Lan connection in your client system's network connections.I have assigned IP:192.168.1.6 , 255.255.255.0 as subnet mask, 192.168.0.1 as default gate way.

You can assign the IP between the range of 192.168.1.6 - 192.168.1.254. but subnet mask and default gate way should be same as of Server sytems. After assigning the IP's successfully for both the systems..Just ping them from One another to check the connectivity. With this Assigning the IP's part will be over.

3: Installing proxy server on the Server system of your network:

You need to have a proxy server on your server system which does all the work automatically for us. Using proxy server we can configure everything in our network. like to which system we should allow internet connection and all...

I use "proxy plus" as my proxy server which allows us to share internet connection among 3 pcs at free of cost.you can download "proxy plus" here

After downloading and installing the proxy plus, you need to configure it for allowing the client systems to share the connection. While installing the Proxy plus check the option install as windows service to make it run at windows startup. Now open IE browser and type http://localhost:4400/ and hit enter to open ur proxy server's main page and click on proxy settings to the left of the page.

Now click on Security option to the left of the screen. and click on Sercure clients.

now add your client's Ip and click add. Better if you enter the range of your local lan network.. i.e., Just enter 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.254 and click add.
Now Select Acces list option --> Objects.

Now enter your client system's IP: address in 'New object name box', select 'clienIP' from the list box, enter your client system's name in the parameter box and click on 'Add object'. (I hope you know to assign a name for your system).
Next click on 'Rules' option which is located below the 'Objects' option.

Now in the Access list rules box just type "Allow client".

Here 'Allow' is the keyword of proxy server to allow system for connection and 'client' is nothing but the word which you entered in the 'parameter' text box of the 'Objects' option..and click on save. Now click on Administrator option and click on restart. Allow the proxy server to get restarted.

For those who wanted to know more just go to proxy server's installation directory and open the 'Help' page to understand the proxy server better and configure in your own way.

4:Setting Up the Client system's browser.

While your proxy server gets restarted just go your client system. Open IE browser and goto Tools-->options-->Connections Tab --> Lan Settings..

Now check the Proxy server check box. Enter the IP address assigned to your server system and enter "4480" as port number (this is http default port number for proxy server).
Check on Bypass proxy server for local addresses and Click ok.
Thats all now you have configured your system internet for sharing. If its not working please check wheather the proxy plus is running properly and the connection between your pcs is proper.
Make sure you have followed all the above steps properly.
